Top tips for running the Safety Boat Course: 

Things to remember: 

• Slow is pro
• Space is Ace
• People first, kit later
• Count heads
• Crew at stern

ALWAYS:

• Ask first: Can the crew self rescue?
• What assistance do the crew require?
• Full intervention - get the crew into the safety boat and take control!

Prevention is better than cure:

• Masthead floatation
• Righting lines (Catamaran)
• Quick release trapeze hooks
• Sailors to carry knife & whistle & always wear a buoyancy aid
